What happened

Between 2018 and 2022 Uber's systems automatically blocked drivers it suspected of fraud or who had low customer ratings, sometimes permanently, with no person reviewing the decision first. Drivers were also not told enough about how these automated decisions worked. The complaint began with 171 French drivers and was handled by the Dutch regulator working with France's CNIL.
