What happened

Texas sued Meta in 2022, saying Facebook's photo-tagging feature captured the facial geometry of Texans for years without the informed consent state law requires. Meta settled for $1.4 billion without admitting wrongdoing. Texas called it the largest privacy settlement ever obtained by a single state.
